Programme Overview

In September 2022, Bursa Malaysia launched the Enhanced Sustainability Reporting Requirements for both the Main Market Listing Requirements and the ACE Market Listing Requirements, with the aim to elevate the sustainability practices and disclosures of listed issuers.

As conversations on sustainability and ESG continue to expand, organisations are increasingly moving away from “tick box”, compliance-led approaches towards a more proactive and strategic model. Sustainability is evolving from tactical initiatives to a business-wide strategy.

Making this shift demands that organisations have a big-picture view of sustainability disclosure items. each element cannot be judged in isolation, but rather should be reviewed against a wider environmental, social and governance corporate strategy and landscape. This will in turn lead to holistic and cohesive strategies that optimise enterprise value.

Featuring an overview and impact of the Bursa’s Enhanced Sustainability Reporting Framework, key highlights of the additional disclosures and how businesses can prepare themselves in the adoption of the necessary best practices. Boards and senior management would require guidance through the enhancements to be able to form strategies to respond to the key indicators and strengthen compliance. Through this knowledge, organisations will look into the internalisation of their sustainability goals and consideration of critical sustainability risks, in particular climate change.
