This financial management programme for non-finance directors addresses the challenges non-finance board members face when interpreting financial reports and making strategic decisions based on corporate data presented by management.
The programme will not turn you into an accountant but will give you a greater understanding of the financial information presented using a number of techniques such as the Du Pont Model to enhance your ability to evaluate the financial numbers and the confidence to deep-dive into the issues involved in order to enhance shareholder values.
The programme also introduces non-finance directors into the corporate finance arena involving strategic decision-making relating to which investment proposal to support out of many.
In addition, to finance such investments or acquisitions, we will share with you what can be considered the ideal capital structure, as to whether the issue of equity or debt or both are more financially viable based on the risk versus return consequent and other drivers.

- Understand those key financial indicators and guidelines when interpreting financial reports relating to financial performance and the orgainsation’s overall viability.
- Applying the Du Pont Model to identify which areas of the business or organisation performance needs addressing or supporting in order to create and driver shareholder values (case study )
- The Optimal Capital Structure – identifying sources of funds and the ideal debt or equity capital structure suitable for an organisation taking into account risk vs. return (case study).
- Common-used methods of Capex Proposal & Capital Investment Appraisal and assessing the business case and funding requirements (case study).
- Know what is required to drive shareholders value.

VINCENT LOH

Vincent has over 40 years of knowledge, exposure and experience in auditing, financial & business management, consulting and training. His experiences cover numerous business segments, ranging from auditing and consultancy to the technology, manufacturing and retail sectors, working for international organisations, listed companies and local multinationals. He has also worked and lived in several countries including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Cambodia, providing him with deep understanding of the various cultural environments and business regimes, dealing with all levels from corporate leadership to the shop-floor.
He was a CFO for a Malaysian listed conglomerate and subsequently appointed Group General Manager of an international manufacturing company with top and bottom-line responsibilities. He is currently Chief Executive of a management consulting practice and also a senior independent non-executive director of a Bursa-listed public company.
As a member of ICDM Faculty, he shares his expertise by facilitating programmes for directors and assisting the Institute to assess board and director effectiveness, particularly for those from public-listed companies.
