Programme Overview

In September 2022, Bursa Malaysia launched the Enhanced Sustainability Reporting Requirements for both the Main Market Listing Requirements and the ACE Market Listing Requirements, with the aim to elevate the sustainability practices and disclosures of listed issuers. The reporting period with the enhanced framework compliance will cover the period starting financial year ending (FYE) 31 December 2023 to 31 December 2025.

As advisor to boards, the Company Secretary must drive conversations on sustainability integration into boards and committee mandates accordingly. As a driving force for boards, they are expected to work hand-in-hand with senior leadership of the organisation to ensure that sustainability and ESG accountabilities are embedded into the oversight role of the board in terms of strategy, priorities and goals through the implementation of the relevant policies and procedures.

Featuring an overview and impact of the Bursa’s Enhanced Sustainability Reporting Framework, key highlights of the additional disclosures and how businesses can prepare themselves in the adoption of the necessary best practices. The review into how a Company Secretary can play a proactive part in the implementation of the new disclosure requirements will be addressed. An increased understanding in this area will in turn add value to their role within the board and organisation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Help Company Secretaries understand the imperative elements of the Bursa Malaysia’s Enhanced Sustainability Reporting Framework.
  • Provide clear guidance for Company Secretaries to drive communication with senior leadership of the organisation in terms of compliance with theenhanced requirements.
