And none of these can be advanced by any one institution alone. It takes an entire ecosystem, moving together, to truly shift the needle.

Our goal is to ensure that companies entering the public market are supported by robust governance frameworks, guided by high-performing boards, and equipped to deliver sustainable long-term value beyond listing.

Our impact continues to grow as we work with stakeholders across the corporate and public sectors, build a more capable, future-ready governance ecosystem. From developing the ICDM Director Competency Framework and piloting the Professional Certification Directors Framework, we are translating global best practices into meaningful impact for Malaysian boards.

The establishment of ICDM’s Centre of Excellence will further strengthen our role as a trusted hub for governance thought leadership, research, and practical insights.

At our AGM this year, our theme reflected ICDM’s evolution on its seventh anniversary – moving from building awareness and board capability in our formative years to anchoring a definitive national role in setting and advancing the standards of board professionalism in Malaysia.

What began as a bold ambition to professionalise directorship has evolved into a cornerstone of national economic resilience. Today, ICDM stands firmly as a unifying force across the public and private sectors, recognising that the responsibilities of directorship are equally critical across both. Regardless of the organisation or mandate, directors have a duty to provide strategic stewardship, exercise sound judgment, uphold the highest standards of governance and always act in the best interests of the organisation and its stakeholders.

This focus on strong foundations was evident at our 9th AGM. I was truly encouraged by your active participation and deeply grateful for your kind words and support for ICDM’s efforts in raising governance standards. Your trust and confidence continue to inspire us to do even more.

This year also marked a significant milestone as we bid farewell to two of our esteemed founding directors, Encik Salleh Hassan and Dato’ Abdul Aziz Abu Bakar, who have retired from the Board.
